Celebrate the Easter weekend with traditional Easter activities in Luostarinmäki - or in the Adventure Park where little Easter witches and wizards gather!

Luostarinmäki, March 26–27: OvoDecor demonstrates traditional ways of painting Easter eggs. Also a traditional egg rolling contest for children. Easter Sunday, March 27: Little Easter witches and wizards gather in the Adventure Park.

Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum organizes an egg rolling contest for children, and the winner will get a prize. A confectioner will be present on Saturday and make colourful marzipan sweets. OvoDecor association celebrates its 30th year of operations and exhibits egg decoration traditions from around Europe.

Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum is open on Saturday and Sunday, March 26–27, 10.00–16.00.

 

Adventure Park organizes Easter crafts and a Witches’ Easter Adventure

The Adventure Park starts its Easter celebrations with arts and crafts in the atelier workshop on March 20. In the atelier it is possible to colour eggs with the wax batik method or by painting, and also to tie and decorate willow branches. The workshop fees start from 2.5 €/person.

On Easter Sunday, March 27, little Easter witches and wizards gather in the Adventure Park. Magic catchers, spell trees, and magic wands can be crafted in the Witches’ Chamber in the atelier. New witch applicants will be tested outside at the Adventure Course, and in the Miracle Room it is possible to visit a magical forest. Spell singing can be heard at the Music School at 11.00. Sunday’s theatre performance will be ‘Tatu ja Patu pihalla’ (Timantti) at 15.00 and 17.00. The entry fee for the Witches’ Easter Adventure event is 2.5€ (ticket sales will close at 15.30), tickets for the theatre performance are 8€ (under 1-year-olds free of charge).

 

 

Exceptions on opening hours of libraries, museums and sports and exercise facilities

On Maundy Thursday, March 24, Turku Main Library will be closed at 18.00. Self-service libraries are open normally, other local libraries are closed at 16.00. The mobile libraries will stop their rounds and Monitori in Skanssi will be closed at 15.00. All libraries will be closed from Friday to Monday, March 25.28.

Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum is open March 26­–27 between 10.00 and 16.00. The Biological Museum, Turku Castle, and Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art will be closed on Thursday, March 24, at 15.00, and will remain closed during Easter, March 25-28. The galleries at the Old Great Square will be closed on Thursday, March 24, at 16.00 and will be closed on Friday March 25 and Monday March 28.

Easter affects the opening hours of sports and exercise facilities maintained by the City of Turku. Most sports and exercise facilities are closed on Good Friday, March 25, and on Easter Monday, March 28, with the exceptions of the public hours of Impivaara and Varissuo ice halls and Impivaara football hall. In addition to ice skating and ball games, you can always enjoy the spring weather outdoors during Easter.
