The City of Turku will organise in cooperation with Elisa Oyj, Turku Science Park Ltd and Turku Technol-ogy Properties the hackathon competition “The Lively District of the Future 24/7/365” from 29 September to 1 October 2017.

Background information on the area of Turku Science Park

Turku Science Park is a hub of research institutes and business based in Turku. The area, situated only a walking distance away from the city centre, has two science universities, three universities of applied sciences, Turku University Hospital and 300 other companies and communities. Approximately 17 500 people work and over 30 000 people study in the area.

The objective of the Campus and Science Park key project designated by the City Board of Turku is the high-quality planning and implementation of land use, housing, building and traffic in the area. The goal is to develop the area into a comfortable and lively oasis of encounters and a mobility hub operating 24 hours a day.

The hackathon is an innovation competition with the objective of finding means to regenerate the Campus and Science Park area in Turku for instance by developing services as well as interesting places for spending time and by promoting smart mobility.

The competition challenge will be published in August 2017 at www.turku.fi/hackathon.
