On schooldays the student gets a warm meal between 10.00 and 12.00. The meal covers approximately one third of a person’s daily food requirements.
Arkea Ruokapalvelu sells snacks in secondary schools and in upper secondary schools when it is allowed. List of schools and information about snacks and payment options are available in Finnish.
A student will be offered a special diet if the reason is medical, religious or ethical.

The goal of preparatory education is to give immigrant students necessary abilities in order for them to move on to basic education. Preparatory education is given to basic education students who have recently moved to Finland, whose language skills are not proficient enough to study in normal basic education groups. Preparatory education is centralized to few schools. Grades 1-6 preparatory education is given at the Varissuo and Pansio schools and Luostarivuori school's Martti and Kerttuli units.
Information and guidance point Nuorten Turku is a service meant for everyone under the age of 29. Parents can also use the service.
There are three computers, a copy machine, scanner and a telephone available for your use free of charge. You may search information independently or with the help of the staff members.

In addition to the upper secondary schools administrated by the City, also the Normal School of the University of Turku and Steiner School operate in Turku.

A youth centre is a place young people can call their own -- where you, too, will find an opportunity to play games, engage in hobbies with friends, and implement your own ideas. Activities are geared toward young people 9-18 years of age. Youth workers lead the activities in the youth centres.
In order to use the youth centres, you will need a youth card with a picture ID. The card allows you to use the game equipment available in the centres. The card is free of charge.

Turku has four campgrounds for youth: Ahtela in Sauvo, Tippsund in Taivassalo, Vienola in Rymättylä and Nukkumajoki in Inari.

The campgrounds are ideal for larger groups and events, but they are also suited for small groups. The campgrounds can also be rented just for day use.
Turku Vocational Institute (TAI) is one of Finland’s largest upper secondary vocational school. It offers young people and adults education and training for basic vocational qualifications as well as vocational further education and training in the fields of Business Economics and Service, Technology, and Health and Welfare. Turku Vocational School has eight different units, some of them located right in the center of Turku.
The Evening High School of Turku (Turun iltalukio) is an upper secondary education school meant for adults where it is possible to finish basic education studies, get the general upper secondary education certificate, pass the Finnish Matriculation Examination or to study single subjects (e.g. languages).
A youth card is personal and free of charge, and it can be granted to young people between the ages of 9 and 18. The card can be used to participate in the operations of youth centres and to receive discounts in events organised by the regional youth work as well as benefits offered by companies.
The card is valid for one school year at a time. The cardholder’s information is checked and the card updated with a school year sticker every year.
Children and Adolescents' Outpatient Clinic provides specialist level examinations and care for patients who are under 20 years old and reside in Turku.
When your child becomes ill, primarily contact your local health station or a private clinic where a doctor assesses the situation and, if needed, writes a referral to follow-up treatment, for example, to Children and Adolescents’ Outpatient Clinic.

Studying in the ICT track
Kerttuli Upper Secondary School ICT track is a national special upper secondary school accepted by the Ministry of Education. It is a continuation of the ‘future’s professionals of information technology and media’ track that began in autumn 2000, and it functions in close interaction with higher education institutions and business life.
Over 30 sports are represented in Kerttuli Upper Secondary School. Sport-specific morning coaching is given in 14 sports with 23 sports coaches. The athletes of other sports participate in attribute training or train in ways that have been agreed on separately and according to programmes designed by their own coaches.
Furniture: Tables, chairs and sofas. One wall of the hall is covered with mirrors.

The rentable facilities comprise an arts and crafts room, group room, club cafeteria, kitchen, and the banqueting hall. The banqueting hall is ideal for larger events because of its portable furnishings, and also for dance practice because of the mirrors that cover one entire wall. The facilities of Teräsrautela Youth Space are suitable for meetings and parties.
Runosmäki Youth Space is located in the middle of Runosmäki, along the Piiparinpolku walkway. Due to its central location it is easy and safe for also the smaller ones to come visit the youth space. The banqueting hall has a stage for e.g. performances.

Pansio Youth Space is located next to Pansio sports field. It is along the routes of buses number 42 and 99.
Paattinen Youth Space is located in the Paattinen Community Centre. The facilities are rented for parties and meetings, among other things.

Jyrkkälä Youth Space is located on the other side of the road from the blocks of flats and Sale (grocery store), next to the football field. It is along the routes of buses number 12 and 61. Next to the building there is a multipurpose field where it is possible to play basketball, floorball, volleyball, and other outdoor games.
