The museum is located on a hill, and the terrain is uneven, so it can be difficult for the physically disabled to move on the grounds. The houses have steps leading up to them, which makes them harder to access.
There are wheelchair ramps to enable access to Museum Shop Hantvärkki, the toilets as well as Café Kisälli.
The personal assistants of physically disabled persons get free admission to the museum. Guide dogs and service dogs are allowed in the museum.

You can access the museum terrace from Paavo Nurmen puistotie, where there is an entrance without steps. There is a ramp and an automatic door by the main entrance. The lobby and Café Wäinö are fully accessible, as are the toilets in the lobby.
Before becoming a museum in the 19th century, Turku Castle served as a fortification and a stronghold for more than 600 years. The Castle was designed to be as inaccessible as possible. Only some areas are accessible by a wheelchair.
Please note that the passageways between halls and rooms are not accessible by pram or stroller.
